Rosa Simon immigrated from Peru over twenty years ago, barely making enough
money to survive. Through the grace of God, she found a loving community that
could support her, and now she spreads that grace towards many others who share
her story.
Doula Ministry
Rosa gave birth to her first son in the United States without any friends or
family nearby, and without knowing English. The experience was scary, but it
didn’t have to be. She helps women in her situation by guiding them through
their pregnancies.
Street Ministry
Rosa has befriended many men who came to America to send money back to their
families. They take whatever jobs they can find, often waiting all day in the
heat and going to bed hungry because they couldn’t find work. Rosa encourages
these men to set themselves up for success.
Next Steps
Living on the streets is challenging. It means fighting the elements, resisting
the temptation to numb the pain with drugs and alcohol, and staying away from
other influences that lead to a destructive lifestyle. Rosa knows that half the
battle to escape this life is to keep yourself clean. To help with this, Rosa
establishes community with people on the streets by seeing them several times a
week, inviting them to church, helping them get driver’s licenses, taking them
to important meetings, and staying invested in their lives.
